Privacy Policy
Bedtime is operated by Autism Central LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to hi@bedtime.help.
Who this policy is for
Bedtime accounts are held by adults. Children do not create accounts, log in, or interact with us directly. A parent or guardian sets up the account, provides the details used to personalise stories, and controls the experience. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
What we collect
Account information.Your email address and password (stored as a hash — we never see your password in readable form). If you subscribe, the billing details you provide to our payment processor.
Child profile details. The information you enter to personalise stories: a child’s first name, age, interests, and the narrator voice you choose. You decide what to enter. A nickname works as well as a real name.
Nightly check-in details. What you tell us about a child’s day — mood, something that happened, something coming up. This is used to write that night’s story and is kept with the story so you can find it later.
Stories and audio. The stories written for you and the audio narration of them, stored so you can play them again.
Usage information. Basic technical data: which pages loaded, when stories were generated, and error logs. This is used to keep the service working, not to build a profile of you.
What we do with it
- Write and narrate personalised stories
- Keep your library available across your devices
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Send account emails (sign-up confirmation, password resets, billing notices)
- Diagnose faults and improve the service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell or share children’s personal information. We do not use your child’s details to target advertising, and we do not show advertising in Bedtime.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers, each handling only what they need:
- Hosting and database provider— account and profile data, stories, audio files
- Payment processor— billing details (we never see full card numbers)
- AI text generation provider— the prompt used to write the story, including profile and check-in details
- Speech synthesis provider— the story text, to generate audio narration
We may also disclose information if legally required, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
How long we keep it
Account and story data is kept while your account is open. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain records for legal, tax, or accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete a child’s profile and its associated stories at any time without closing your account.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the personal data we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your data
- Export your data in a portable form
- Stop or restrict certain processing
If you are in the UK or EEA, these rights arise under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Our lawful bases are: performing our contract with you (providing the service), your consent (child profile and check-in details), and our legitimate interests (security, fault diagnosis, service improvement). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of.
To exercise any right, email hi@bedtime.help. We respond within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
Bedtime is designed to be operated by adults for the benefit of children. Because a parent supplies a child’s details, those details are personal information about a child, and we treat them accordingly:
- We collect only what is needed to personalise a story
- We do not use them for advertising or profiling
- We do not disclose them beyond the providers listed above
- The account holder may review or delete them at any time
- We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts
If you believe a child has provided us information directly, email hi@bedtime.help and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Audio files are held in private storage and served through short-lived signed links, so a story URL cannot be shared or guessed. Passwords are hashed. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers operate globally. If you are outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify account holders by email before the change takes effect.
